Spotlight’s on…Teacher Génièse !

Génièse Pierre has been a teacher at Lemuel’s school since 2014.  She started out in the Kindergarten 1 class, but for the past three years, she has been teaching Kindergarten 2.  A few weeks ago, you heard what the kids are learning in Kin 2 these days.  Now, you can get to know their teacher a bit better.

Q:  What gives you the most joy in your classroom?

Génièse: It gives me joy when I am teaching and I see the kids are really learning.

Q: What is your favorite subject to teach?

Génièse: Language.  That involves vocabulary and helping the kids to learn how to properly pronounce words–both in Creole and in French.

Q: In your opinion, what importance does a teacher have within society?

Génièse:  Good education today makes for a good society tomorrow.  Teachers play an important role in forming their students to bring transformation to society.

Q: What teacher had the greatest influence on you? How?

Génièse:  My high school biology teacher.  He really impressed me with the way he could captivate and convince us with his explanations.  To this day, I like biology.  He helped to influence my style of teaching by showing me the importance of teaching with energy and excitement.

Q: In the future, what do you hope the kids who are in your class today can offer their country that the previous generation was not able to offer?

Génièse:  I hope my students can bring change through honesty–to put an end to the system of corruption.

Q: What importance does your faith in Jesus Christ have in your life?

Génièse: When you stay close to God, you feel stronger.  As I trust God in every situation, I become closer to Him.
