Dave Muchmore–Lemuel’s US treasurer and an adviser to Lemuel leadership–recently visited the Plateau. He writes the following:
November 29, 2017
Yesterday afternoon, I sat at Judy’s dining room table with Lemuel’s leadership team. Once again they are facing a test of their faith as they look to the end of their calendar year. Right now they are looking at just under $10,000 to close out the month of December — with the extras that this month brings. Here’s a bit more of the picture. . .
Each of the 65 staff that Lemuel employs represents upwards of 8-12 people that depend on that income. Because of you and many others like you, Lemuel provides a livelihood to fathers and mothers so they in turn can care for their own children. Lemuel provides a livelihood to young adults who in turn help parents and siblings.
These 65 staff are employed in the 7 grades of the elementary school, 3 classes of pre-school and kindergarten. They are employed by the development branch as they seek to improve the overall community. They have hospitality staff that work when they have visitors. They have a kitchen staff that provides a hot meal for the children in school. They have are support staff that help keep everything else running.
ALL of this is an investment. It is an investment in people. It is an investment in families. It is an investment in a whole community. It is an investment in the next generation who will no longer look to handouts for their survival – but rather take responsibility for themselves, their families and their community.
20 years ago, God laid on Manis’ heart a dream to bring spiritual, social, economic and ecological change to the community where he grew up. That change is happening one step at a time.
That change is happening because of you – because of your faithful intercession, because of your generous giving.
In the next few days, would you consider praying how God might want to use you to meet this immediate need? Would you consider covering yearend obligations to one (around $150), two ($300), or more of the Lemuel staff?
On behalf of the Lemuel leadership, thank you for prayerfully considering this opportunity.
Blessings,
David Muchmore
